Witches, Healers and Cunning Folk - Writing Witch-Lit
£45.00
Step into the magic of hags, hexes and forbidden knowledge in the magical surroundings of Bensham Grove’s old library.
From cunning women and folk healers to wise women, what makes a witch truly compelling? From Baba Yaga to Morgan le Fay and the Blair Witch to Sabrina, how can we create an iconic witch and a magical world that feels fresh, strange and entirely our own?
In this writing course, you’ll delve into folklore, superstition, magic, ritual, power and place. You’ll consider the ways witches have been portrayed through the ages as monsters, outsiders, protectors, rebels and sources of ‘dangerous’ knowledge.
Through discussion, creative exercises and practical writing activities, you’ll develop magical worlds and systems of your own, while exploring how to create believable, relatable characters.
Whether you’re drawn to dark folk horror witches, contemporary witchcraft or dark folkloric tales of rebellious women, this writing course will give you the tools to bring your own witch-lit to life.
This course is suitable for beginning and emerging witch-lit writers.
The old stories are waiting. Come along and conjure them onto the page.
