Immortal Ink: Writing Vampire Fiction
£45.00
What better place to conjure a vampire than the atmospheric surroundings of Bensham Grove’s old library? From the bestial undead of ancient folklore to gothic aristocrats, from seductive immortals to modern-day monsters, the vampire has loomed from the shadows to survive centuries of storytelling. But what makes a vampire story work? How can you take this familiar creature and make it entirely your own?
This writing course explores the craft of vampire fiction, looking at the mythology and science behind the monster. You’ll consider dark and suppressed desires and how this has shaped the mythos and folklore surrounding the undead through history. You’ll explore how writers have reinvented the vampire, from terrifying predator to tragic outsider and romantic anti-hero.
Through discussion, creative exercises and practical writing activities, you’ll develop your own vampire characters and build vampiric worlds, experimenting with gothic atmosphere, dark desire and the uncanny.
This course is suitable for beginning and emerging horror writers.
The Vampyr is waiting in the wings. Come and write something immortal.
